Switzerland...Finally

OK...so in August (yes I know it's October but I have been having computer issues) we were blessed with a week long trip to Switzerland! We decided to rent a chalet in the Swiss Alps and just rejuvenate, what an amazing week we had!  I know everyone wants to ski in Switzerland but let me tell you Summer in the Swiss Alps is magical!

We flew into Basel and then drove to Interlochen (a lake in central Switzerland).  It was a beautiful drive and here Mark & the kids are at the park in the center of town!  We sat and watched the paragliders land in the park.  Brooklyn and her daddy really wanted to go but mean old mom said NO WAY!  The paragliders would start way off at the top of the mountain and then just float all over the lake and city.  It was beautiful to watch but my nine year old daughter was NOT going!!  She is too much of a daredevil and was rather upset that I wouldn't allow it! :)

Yes those are snow capped mountains in August!

Throughout the week we alternated days of hiking the mountain and day trips to other sites!  One day we took the car to this beautiful town called Montreux.  Here they have this picturesque castle "Chateau de Chillon".  Here is Brooklyn as we were walking the path to the castle!  If you look closely it is in the background!

A look out one of the prisoner windows in the castle!

FYI in Switzerland they speak French, German, Italian and thankfully most speak some English!  Depending on where you are in the country which ever influence is dominant that is the language they speak! I had no idea!

Here we are on one of our MANY hikes in the mountians!  Notice the small village below!  From our chalet at night you could see 4 different villages all spread throughout these little valleys!  Absolutely stunning!  Again that is snow.  We found that at the top we needed a light jacket but as we would descend we would have to loose the layers!

I have always heard about Swiss cows and their bells!  Well it's true!  We would be hiking along and come upon a herd of cattle and every single one had these bells on!  It was the neatest experience to listen to!  I understand why they have them now!  These cows free range the mountains so the "farmers"  find them by sound!

Not all of our hiking was easy!  However as Sawyer's we did it all!

Needless to say we had an amazing trip!  We loved the small village we were in an the people were so kind!  Fondue, not our favorite!  We had a true Swiss holiday!

When we returned it was back to school!  First day picture for you! Zach is sorry for the blinking!

We also took a 6 hour bike ride our first weekend back!  Mind you it was not meant to be that long but when you hit a rainstorm, high winds, and mud it tends to make things a bit longer!  Our kids were amazing though!  However, walking the next day was a bit of a challenge!  Here are a few pitctures from that fateful day!
